Catoctin Iron Furnace

So this post is going to be short and sweet. Just something that I forgot to mention that we did last year, but I thought it was pretty cool and wanted to share it all with you. Last August we went to a cookout for my husbands job. We often like to make the most of our time so we decided to make a pit stop on the way home since this was on the way. This old furnace was absolutely huge and interesting to look at. It's located outside of Thurmont, MD.

There was also a walking trail in the area, as well as the remains to the Catoctin Manor that used to be there on site.

Our Maryland Home.

Unpacking took a bit longer than expected. I started school as soon as we got here and I focused on it so unpacking was a long process. I didn't want to post a house tour until we were totally unpacked and we are finally pretty much there! Haha. It only took almost a year! There are still a few boxes packed away in one of the spare rooms but I'm not too worried about those (it's likely that they'll end up donated eventually). So anyway, sorry about the late post but here here are. Better late than never right?

We got lucky when we arrived, we did most of the paperwork for our home online, so we were able to pick up the keys the same day. I believe I speak for the both of us when I say that this is by far our favorite temporary home that we've lived in. This location allowed us to put in a request for the community that we wanted to live in and a home in that community was available!

Our new home is a three bedroom, two and a half bath house. We share walls with neighbors but all in all it's fairly spacious. We have an attached garage, an upstairs balcony, and a patio out back with storage space.

The downstairs floor plan in very open! By the front door we have a small walk in closet and the half bath and the hallway opens up into the kitchen/living room/dining room area. Through the kitchen area is a door to the laundry room. The laundry room contains a small cabinet as well as a walk in closet. It's also where the door to the garage is located. In our living room is a set of french doors that open up to the back patio.

Upstairs we have a long hallway. At one end is the door to the balcony and the master bedroom which contains a walk in closet and master bathroom. At the other end of the hallway we have two more bedrooms, a bathroom, and a decent sized linen closet. One of the extra rooms we're using for storage and the other is a library/office.

We love all the storage space and the layout. The hubby is, of course, most excited about the garage. I'm thrilled that everything finally has a place and we aren't just trying to make the space work. We know that not every place we live is going to fit us this good but we are excited about the time we will have in this home.
