Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau

With the awesome weather we've been having we really felt the urge to get out and get some fresh air. I wanted to take some pictures and Ben was getting real tired of sitting in the house. While searching for a place to go I saw that a travel group that I follow was headed south for a day trip. After talking it over we decided why not get a bus with a bunch of other people and travel 5 hours south to see a couple castles.

Our bus headed out at 4:30 in the morning! That on top of the fact that we moved our clocks forward the same morning meant that we were so tired. I can honestly say that I slept most of the way there and a good chunk of the way back. It was dark and foggy so there was no way that I was going to be able to take any pictures.

The castles we saw were Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. They are within walking distance to each other and they are both very beautiful. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take any pictures inside but we did get some awesome shots of the outside. This is Hohenschwangau:

For me I kinda felt like it was kind of a let down to walk through in comparison to the other we saw. It was quite a bit smaller and we were only taken through a few rooms, which considering how much it cost us to take the tour, just really sucked. I did like looking at it though! The detail on these castles are amazing.
The second castle we walked through was Newschwanstein:

Have you ever seen Sleeping Beauty? Well the castle in that movie is based off of this one. Pretty cool, right? Out of all the castles in Germany I am so glad we got to see this one. Words cannot describe how breathtaking this castle is. Inside and out.
After we saw both castles we were feeling exhausted! Both castles are up on top of hills and super steep hills at that. So we decided to spend our time before the 5 hour bus ride back relaxing and enjoying the gorgeous view. Lucky for us there were many little trails, lakes, and tourist shops that we got to explore.

Catoctin Iron Furnace

So this post is going to be short and sweet. Just something that I forgot to mention that we did last year, but I thought it was pretty cool...
